Bikini Line Hair Removal

When going on holiday or if you regularly like to go swimming, then many people are embarassed if they have hair growth that shows beyond their bikini line. In the past women would shave this area or use hair removing creams, or waxing, but all these methods can cause some skin irritation and subsequent unsightly marks on the skin or ingrown hairs, the haoir also grows back very quickly. Removing the bikini area of hair using laser light treatment is a much gentler alternative and can be done in 3-4 sessions, for cost examples see here.

Bikini Waxing

Waxing the bikini line can be tricky and a little painful. The skin area around the bikini line is quite delicate and waxing can cause soreness. Lasers do not damage the skin at all, and after a few sessions of laser treatment the need for waxing no longer presents itself as the hair growth stops. A professional bikini wax will cost around £25 / $50 and this process will have to be repeated monthly probably so the overall cost of bikini waxing over a lifetime compared to laser hair removal for the bikini line, is quite large.

How long does it take ?

A bikini hair removal treatment will take about 15 minutes per session, you will have to have several sessions for permanent results, about 4-8 sessions on average, that are repeated every 6-8 weeks. Over a lifetime this method of hair removal saves a considerable amount of time to the older methods like shaving, depilatory creams, epilating etc.

How is it done?

If you go to a beauty clinic where they specialise in the treatment they will have a laser light machine, often these days it is the alexandrite lasers, the latest type is the ND Yag. The machine will have a handheld scanner and the area will be scanned and the correct settings determined, then pulses of light remove the hairs in the growth stage. See the clinics section for tips on choosing a clinic and then speak to each individual clinic about the methods they employ to remove the hair and whatlaser they use. The darker hairs are targetted and the surrounding skin being lighter remains untouched. The process is kind to the skin and leaves the skin very smooth and soft and younger looking.

Is It Safe?

It is a very safe method of hair removing, but it is a medical procedure and you must make sure the person performing the procedure is properly qualified and preferably has experience, as determing your hair and skin type and choosing settings on the lasers accordingly is crucial for success. It is wiser to pay more and go to a trustworthy clinic as your health and skin care is very important.
